This is a tricky subject for so many reasons. For me, creating Art is what its all about. So the idea of using AI is a no go. It removes me from the process. If all I end up doing is typing words into an image generator then that's it... Game over. I'll quit this & work on a farm or something & create art in my spare time (which would be none at all... have you seen how much work they do on farms... I live opposite one, its nuts). Ok, enough of that.
The problem with all of this boils down to integrity. There are so many images being created using this AI thingy without mentioning it was actually created by something else. For some weird reason, loads of people think that by typing words into these generators that they have had some part in its creation... YOU HAVEN'T! Not unless you think typing words into Google image search makes you the creator of those images too. By doing this, you are not an Art Director, you haven't guided the software into producing these images. All you are doing is asking for something. There is no creative roll here. If you think there is... that's just sad. And I'm sorry, photoshopping over it doesn't really help.
So what is it. What do you want to do, how do you want to be perceived. Its up to you. An actual Artist... or someone who types words.
Don't get me wrong. There is sadly no stopping this train (wreck). In the end, Producers, Directors, Game Studios, you name it... will remove all of us from the equation. They will simply ask a machine for all this stuff & we will be extinct. We will have a soulless, dull, repetitive Artistic World. Where everything is just some pale lifeless imitation of something better that was created years ago. This will happen because business just doesn't care or simply doesn't know what it is looking at. It will be about profit & nothing else. I mean, why pay someone, when you can have some piece of garbage for free. And it is, utter garbage. It all looks the same, I can spot it a mile off, we all can.
Can it be stopped, probably not. Not unless new rules come in to stop these generators stealing other peoples work, chewing it up & vomiting it out.
